Ghana’s Policy Dialogue on Assessment of Organizational and Institutional Preparedness for Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation, and Market Access for High Value Agricultural Commodities in Ghana was held in Accra, Ghana on November 18, 2010. The workshop was attended by high level technical personnel from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Forestry Commission, Ministry of Food and Agriculture, Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), Water Resources Commission, National Development Planning Commission (NDPC), and researchers from the University of Ghana, FARA and a host of media houses. The half-day workshop was attended by over 40 participants.
The workshop was chaired by the Deputy Chief Executive of Ghana Cocoa Board, Dr. Yaw Adu-Ampomah. Professor Kwadwo Asenso-Okyere (IFPRI) led the presentation, and was supported by Dr. Daniel Bruce Sarpong (University of Ghana), the Ghana collaborator of the study. Dr. Samuel Asuming-Brempong (University of Ghana) made a presentation on smallholder farmers and carbon markets. The Chairman, in his closing remarks, stressed on the need to strengthen public institutions in climate change and market access to enhance the mitigation and adaptation process in climate change.
